LED Landscape Lighting Retrofit
If you inherited a halogen system, we can usually keep your existing cable runs and transformer locations and swap in modern LED fixtures at a fraction of a ground-up install cost.
One operator. Same person designs, installs, and maintains your system. Not a subcontractor.
Custom design. Every plan is sketched on-site for your specific property.
Clean installs. Buried cable, hidden transformers, no exposed wiring.
What's included
- Full system evaluation: cable gauge, transformer capacity, fixture condition
- Halogen to LED fixture swap, reusing existing cable where viable
- Transformer upgrade or zone consolidation if needed
- Color temperature standardization across zones
- Re-aiming and final system test after swap
- Smart controller retrofit option for scheduling and scene control
How it works
- System evaluation
We test your transformer under load, measure cable voltage drop across each run, and inspect fixture housings for corrosion or damage. This tells us what we can reuse and what needs to go.
- Fixture selection
We recommend LED replacements matched to your existing fixture footprints and aesthetics where possible, or propose an upgrade if the originals are past their useful life.
- Swap and calibrate
Fixtures are swapped zone by zone. Because LED draws significantly less current than halogen, we rebalance transformer tap settings and verify stable voltage across all runs before re-aiming.
- Final dusk walkthrough
We walk the property at dusk after the swap to confirm beam angles are correct for the new LED optics, which can differ from the original halogen spread.
Halogen systems installed before 2015 in Central Florida commonly used aluminum fixture bodies, which corrode quickly in our humidity. LED retrofits are a good opportunity to replace corroded housings with brass or composite fixtures rated for the environment, while keeping original cable infrastructure intact.
Common questions
Can you convert my existing halogen system to LED?
In most cases, yes. We inspect your transformer, cable gauge, and fixture housing and give you a quote to swap fixtures and adjust the driver. It is usually 30 to 60% less than a ground-up install.
Will the light look different after the retrofit?
LED color temperature is more consistent than halogen, which shifts warmer as the bulb ages. Most homeowners notice the light looks cleaner and more even after a retrofit. We bring sample fixtures to the estimate so you can compare before committing.
How much will I save on electricity?
LED uses roughly 80% less power than halogen for the same light output. A typical 12-fixture halogen system running 6 hours a night costs around $12 to $18 per month. The LED equivalent typically runs $2 to $4 per month.
